Catalina and Zip Line Continued

I'm sorry friends.  I got kicked out of my previous post before I was finished!

I want to show some scanned pictures of Richard and Me while on the Zip Line.

Look at the people smiling.  Look at the blue skies and the lovely ocean.

That was not what happened to us.  The sky was filled with dark rain clouds.  The wind was blowing.  It was freezing cold.

AND, and this is a VERY BIG AND, WE DID OUR LAST JUMP IN TOTAL DARKNESS!!!  Hence, the black in the background of our pictures!!!

I know I'm complaining a lot, but I really was terrified.  I still can't say I had FUN, but I love having the bragging rights that I DID IT!!!

Richard was such a good sport.  My sister is still having post traumatic stress syndrome as am I.

But, we did it and we have the tee shirts to prove it!!!

CATALINA GETAWAY VACATION -- ZIP LINE CITY!

November 23, 2010, My sister Corinne and her husband Paul, Richard and I went on a two day two night vacation to Catalina Island.  Paul found an excellent Package Deal on TravelZoo for us and it ended up being a GREAT trip!

It takes 1 hour from Long Beach to Catalina.

We went for lunch of wonderful Clam Chowder plus other good things.  Right in the middle of the restaurant was this ship--where we chose to eat!

These next shots are of the hotel rooms at the Pavillion.  So so nice and spit spot.  Many amenities including free movies, WiFi, and a most excellent breakfast.  Included in this package was the Ferry ride over and back, the Zip Line, Harry Potter Movie in the Casino, Minerature Golf, Island Tour, Ocean Tour and many others we didn't have the time to take advantage of.

I can't believe how naive we were--smiling and laughing in this picture thinking we were awesome to be doing something so daring and scarey.  We had no clue.

It just seemed like it was going to be so fun.  What an adventure, we thought.

Richard was the first of our group to go.  The man is 80 years old!  Has he no common sense?

He said later we was scaird; he gave no sign of such.

I had watched the others.  No problem thought I.

Amanda opened that gate and led me to the edge.

I'm NOT GOING!  No way was I able to walk off the edge of that platform!!!  I was terrified!  I even tried this squat , but Amanda would have no part of that--I was to stand up straight and jump out into the abyss.  I COULD NOT DO IT!!!

Well, I talked her into giving me a shove.

This is another gal who didn't make it all the way to the platform so they threw her a rope and they pulled her in!  Man, I am so happy that didn't happen to me.



Part 2--Continuation of 3rd Anniversary Trip (Previous Post is Part 1)

This is a picture Larry took.  He even labeled it and gave us a framed copy.  We loved this part of the trip the most.

Larry drove our rental car downtown NYC.  It was awesome to see it even if it was just from the car.

It was awesome to see the Statue of Liberty!  It was a first time for me and very emotional.  There was a real party going on in the ship.  The festive atmosphere and patriotic music definitely added to our feelings of love for our country.

The cruise went first to Halifax, Nova Scotia, then to St. Johns, New Brunswick, both in Canada.

From there we went to Bar Harbor, Maine; Boston, Massachusetts; Newport, Rhode Island, and back to NYC. 

It was lovely in every way.  Even though our tender got lost in the fog on the way back to the ship!

Meal times were always the best times!

Joan and Larry Goss, our delightful traveling companions.  Their daughter is married to my daughter's brother-in-law.  That's why we call them our shirt-tail relatives!

One of our main reasons for the cruise at this time of year was to see the Fall Colors!  Although we didn't see mountain sides full of Autum colors, we did see some of what we wanted in short bursts.

At some ports it was sunny and wonderful.

At one it was foggy!!!

^

Beautiful always no matter the weather.
